Small business discount
From 1 January 2023, an updated Small Business Discount will be applied on sales of data and products. Members will apply this discount where possible (depending on the national situation) and should indicate this clearly in the catalogue.
It has been decided that only micro-businesses will be able to apply for this discount. According to the classification by the European Commission, micro businesses are companies with
- Less than 10 staff headcount
- An annual turnover or balance sheet of no more than 2 million euros
The 50% discount is applied on the Information Charge.
Self certification
Companies applying for the Small business discount will need to provide self-certification declaring their business status and are obliged to notify the licensor of any changes in its status.
Self-certification: Customers are asked to sign a self-certification form in which they declare their turnover. The self-certification form should include at least the following elements:
A paragraph explaining the purpose of the form (assess eligibility to the discount).
The registered name and address of the customer, as well as the name and title of the signatory.
The number of staff at present
The declared turnover in Euro.
A declaration of honour, and the consequences in case of false declaration, for instance: “By sending this application, I declare on my word of honour that the information provided above is true and complete I understand that any false statement or omission, even if unintentional, may lead to the termination of my agreement.”
N.B. No small business discount is applicable on the fees for climatological data.
Volume discount will be applied, unless otherwise indicated by the originator, and will be calculated separately for climate data and real time data.
